If quiet is what you’re looking for, then my house is not, I repeat, NOT the place you want to be. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. While I may get an abundance of headaches, they’re generally caused from the non-stop singing from Sophia. And by non-stop, I mean the only time her mouth is shut is when she is passed out asleep, and that’s not even a guarantee that she’ll be quiet.Generally, from the time she wakes up until the time she finally passes out, there is a song coming from her mouth. It doesn’t matter what the song is, whether it’s the ABC’s, or as she’s been calling it lately the ABCD’s, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, or her own rendition of The Laurie Berkner Band’s “Choc-o-lot in My Pock-o-lot”, which goes something like “I pooped a lot, I got choc-o-lot in my pock-o-lot”, which came right after she pooped.
The singing never stops. It’s highly entertaining. It’s as if she’s a virtual mash-up and remix station, taking lyrics from one song and splicing them in with lyrics and music from another. The more she sings, the better. Car rides, walking through the store, sitting on the couch, or running around the house like a maniac, songs are being sung.
As you can see in this video, it isn’t just the singing that doesn’t stop. She dances now. ALL.THE.TIME. This happened last Sunday, shortly after we came home from the Please Touch Museum down in Philly. If she isn’t singing, she wants to be listening to “her songs”. Either from one of the kids music CD’s we have, or through our Bluetooth speaker when we put on one of the kid’s Pandora stations, so she can sing-a-long or dance her heart out.
She’s got some moves, I’ll admit it. Now, I’m not quite sure how I feel about that at this point, but ya know, she’s two, so she’s just having fun. Maybe I’m jealous since I can’t dance to save my life. Unless I’m at a wedding, then watch out, because this white boy is dancing like no one is watching (mainly because if I realized they were watching, I’d realize how bad I was embarrassing myself).
It’s just time for me to face the facts: Sophia is an entertainer and I’m going to have to live with that. It’s awesome to watch her performing wherever the mood to do so strikes her. It could be worse, she could be screeching and screaming non-stop. Who am I kidding, that happens too!
