Does Sophia see ghosts?

Last night, I posted this status on Facebook after putting Sophia to bed: “While laying in bed Sophia looks at her closet and says ‘what’s the lady doing?’ What lady? ‘That lady over there!’ No one else was in her room… Not creepy at all”.

After asking her what the lady was wearing, she said that they looked like a fireman wearing a fire, fire, fire hat! Now, I’ve got to be honest here, I’m not one that believes in ghosts, in hauntings, or in paranormal activities. I just have a hard time believing it. Others do and that’s totally cool. It’s just not something that I’ve ever believed. Just kind of difficult for me to wrap my brain around, for some reason. BUT, what Sophia said last night, and the subsequent comments I got on Facebook have left me kind of, what’s the right word here… spooked I guess.I got responses ranging from people saying they have ghosts in their houses, to some saying they believed that kids can see and talk to spirits. Other people were just as freaked out as I was. Honestly, I don’t know if I believe that Sophia saw a ghost, a woman, a spirit, or something. It did freak me out when she said it, but then I kind of laughed it off as kids being kids and having active imaginations.

I’ve been thinking a lot about it today. What if Sophia can see ghosts? What if she can see spirits? Would that freak me out to no end? Well that last answer is clearly yes. Would it be kind of cool, too? Yes to that, as well.

I don’t even know the point that I’m trying to make. I just know that last night while laying in bed with Sophia, she asked what that lady was doing near her closet. Some lady that may or may not have been in her room. Is our house haunted? Did someone die in this house at some point? I have no idea. Our house isn’t that old and it would be hard to imagine that those things happened here. But, again, I don’t know the history of the people who lived here before us. Anything could have happened, I suppose.

Those with kids, heck even those without kids, have you–or your kids–ever claimed to see ghost? Or thought they saw or felt a spirit in the room with them? I’m really interested to hear what other people have experienced. Let me know in the comments here, or on my Facebook or Twitter pages.
